Located at the top of the Cap bon, Kelibia is about 100 kilometers from the capital Tunis. Currently, Kelibia is a touristic town known by its beautiful beaches and its fortress (“Burj”), but also by its carpenters.
Kelibia has the 4th fishing port of Tunisia, and its vineyards provide the “muscat de Kelibia” (white wine very beloved by the Tunisians).
Being a tourist city is hardly the vocation of Kelibia. It was in fact since the Romans, a maritime military base whose geographical position allows it to neutralize war bases of Sicily, Malta and Gibraltar. This military vocation remains still since Kelibia is home to the maritime national school.
